| Mis sized tooth

Mis
sized teeth are one of the commonly found dental ailments
found these days all over the world. Lots of people have teeth that
are too small for the space they occupy, resulting in unsightly spaces
and gaps between their teeth. This condition usually occurs
in the upper teeth, and of course is most noticeable when the front
6 or 8 teeth are involved. There are different ways to correct
the situation, though. Spaces can be closed using porcelain
crowns, veneers, dental
bonding or orthodontics.
All teeth are aligned, straight, and spaced proportionally. The upper teeth
keep the cheeks and lips from being bitten and the lower teeth protect the
tongue. Mis sized teeth is also refferred as malocclusion or improper bites. It
is the most common problem that comes to an orthondonist. This problem is so
common that there is hardly any one to find these days who has perfect
occlusion. Mostly, this problem is so minor that the people don’t find it
fruitful to visit a specialist.
The minor Mis sized teeth do hardly give any problem
to any individual. It has been found out that many dental problems
can be avoided if malocclusion is cured. The problems like tooth decay,
oral hygiene problems, civilities etc almost all of the major dental
problems can be avoided to a larger extent as this would let a person
have a better approach to cleaning his teeth regularly.
Mis sized teeth can be caused by hereditary. There may be a disproportion
between the size of the upper and lower jaws or between jaw and tooth size
resulting in overcrowding of teeth or in abnormal bite patterns. Extra teeth,
malformed teeth, impacted or lost teeth, and teeth that erupt in an abnormal
direction may contribute to malocclusion. Variations in size or malformation of
either jaw may affect its shape, as can birth defects such as cleft lip and
palate. One of the other ruling cause is stated to be the thum sucking habit,
tongue twisting habit, pacifier use beyong the age of three years, prolonged
use of bottle of age all can be regarded as several factors to get improper
teeth among young children. Among adults or grown up the improper fit of dental
fillings, crowns, appliances, retainers or braces may contribute to
malocclusion.
Common symptoms include abnormal alignment of teeth that are visible,
abnormal appearance of the face, difficulty in chewing the food or
especially while biting and speech difficulties (this is very rare
to find) or mouth breathing. For treatment mostly Braces
or other appliances may be used. Metal bands are placed around some
teeth or metal, ceramic, or plastic bonds are attached to the surface
of the teeth. Wires or springs apply force to the teeth.
The main thing to be kept in mind is that as soon as some problem
is faced one must go and visit his/her cosmetic
dentist so that the problem can be rightly diagnosed
at time and further best treatment can be provided for the ailment.
